A long time ago I was really into military airplanes and ships. I built plastic store
bought models for a time, but those got rather boring. So I turned to building my own
models out of wood, toothpicks, cardboard, plastic, plastic lead and wood, and whatever other materials I could get my
hands on.
The pictures below represent what I created. Everything is to the same scale (1/652).
1/700 in hindsight would have made more sense, but back then I didn't know any better.
In any case, I'm pretty proud of my work. Pretty good for a 12 year old. The models had deteriorated a little
by the time I took these pictures. Some masts have broken off ships and fins have fell off of aircraft, but they
are still in pretty good condition.
All these pictures were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 950, which as you will see, has a superb
macro capability. It quite literally brings out details (and imperfections) in these models that are hard if not
impossible to see with the naked eye.
Take a look. Enjoy!
