My Home
Note:
While my editor was one of the first, it has been superseded by other people's work.
The best editor for FC is written by Philip Langdale. His editor can be found at:
http://ccwf.cc.utexas.edu/~philipl/
The databases available for download here have been superseded by the 1.1 patch for Fleet
Command.
You're still welcome to use the resources on this page, but I haven't really put any
work into it for quite some time now. They are still nice for instructional purposes though.
This page is constantly growing and changing. Come back again. Enjoy!
Database Editor:
Janes Fleet Command Database Editor Version 4 (JBFCEdit4.zip - 56 kb)
This requires the use of Microsoft Access 97 or Access 2000. You
can use this editor to edit the object and loadout databases. Use
the Import form to get the Fleet Command data into your database
and the Export form to save the data back into Fleet Command.
You will probably need some experience with Access to use this.
Email me at
JFC@Bierling.net with any questions.
My thanks to Dietmar Hasselkus for his help getting this started.
Soon I will probably be packaging this up so anyone can use it. Stay tuned!
Database Descriptions:
I'd like to start the effort to come up with a new standard improvement to Fleet Command's databases.
If you want to see how things are configured in the game and want to help improve them, download these zipped up object and
launcher html files. If there is something in the object database you would like to see changed,
email me at JFC@Bierling.net. If it is an object request, use the subject
"Fleet Command Object Request". If it is a loadout request, use the subject "Fleet Command
Loadout Request". Requests without one of these two subjects will be ignored. If you have a
request, please defend your request and tell me why it is an improvement. If I have questions, I will email you back.
Don't infer anything by my not responding.
Please don't email me with questions about what this or that means in the launcher or object databases. --If you do, I might respond
but I may get tired and stop responding if I get a flood of questions.--> Use the public newsgroup comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.naval or the
Fleet Command mailing list at Onelist.com (FleetCommand@onelist.com)
to ask questions.
- JBObjects2.zip (40 kb)
Object database html file
- JBLauncher2.zip (71 kb)
Launcher database html file
Database Downloads:
*** It would be a fine idea to backup your original database files
first! *** If worst comes to worst, you can always reinstall to get them back.
Once you have downloaded the zip files, put the files into your Fleet Command's Database directory.
All players in a multiplayer game must have the same objects in their
objects.db. People who've added the Phoenix can't play with people who
haven't.
Also, Fleet Command tries to load anything in the database directory that
ends in .odb, .ldb, .3db, .sdb, .adb. Don't back up your original
db's by just renaming them in the same directory, bad things are likely to
happen.
- JBStandard4.zip (50 kb)
This database collection version 4 is the result of everyone's requests for object and loadout changes and additions.
This database can be used as the standard replacement of the shipped database files for multiplayer use.
Please see the Database Description section for a full listing of what these standard databases contain, or view
this
change list to see what's changed from the original shipped database.
- JBDB1.zip (50 kb)
Small change from the shipped databases. Equips the F-14 with a loadout
of 6 AIM-54 Phoenix missiles and 2 AIM-9 Sidewinders (instead of 6
AIM-120's and 2 Harpoons). It also changes the loadout of the F-18
replacing the 2 AIM-120's with Harpoons.
- JBDB2.zip (25 kb)
Small change from the shipped databases. Equips the F-14 with a loadout
of 6 AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles and 2 AIM-9 Sidewinders (instead of 6
AIM-120's and 2 Harpoons). It also changes the loadout of the F-18
replacing the 2 AIM-120's with Harpoons.
